Diploma in French for Healthcare

The Diploma in French for Healthcare will enable you to acquire the French language skills needed for working in the medical and paramedical sphere.

This diploma is suitable to any person working in the medical field wishing to better communicate with patients, families and healthcare professionals. The Diploma in French for Healthcare is also intended to companies or institutions that want to expand their business to the French-speaking market.

Detailed description of the diplomas by level

 We offer three Diplomas in French for Healthcare: level B1, level B2 and level C1

 

Level B1

Level 

The Diploma in French for Healthcare B1 validates a competence in French of level B1 of the CECRL. It corresponds to approximately 250 hours of learning.

It certifies a competence in French of independent level, which allows the user to understand and express him/herself in common situations of social and professional life.

The holder of this diploma can carry out common acts of professional communication in a current or generally predictable context.

Competencies assessed

Understand and process information:

The candidate can understand the essential elements of professional documents such as patient records, medication charts, infographic documents, care protocols, liaison sheets, public health data sheets.

He/she can fill out common professional documents and write prescriptions, various parts of patient records, health education materials, letters of recommendation.

The candidate can understand the essence of information and requests from patients, peers, or caregivers around him/her.

Interacting orally:

The candidate shall be able to inform a patient about his/her treatment, counsel him/her and answer his/her questions, inform a non-specialist audience about a public health issue and related prevention measures.

Level B2/C1

Level 

The Diploma in French for Healthcare level B2/C1 is a single exam that delivers, depending on the candidate’s performance, a diploma at the independent B2 level or an experienced C1 level of the CEFRL.

The candidate’s performance depends on his/her degree of mastery of the language means, in their scope and precision, to understand and process information and to express him/herself, both orally and in writing.

The Diploma in French for Healthcare B2/C1 validates a competence in French corresponding to approximately 350 hours of learning for a B2 level and 450 hours for a C1 level.

From level B2 onwards, the holder of this diploma can carry out, orally and in writing, professional communication tasks in all standard situations in his/her professional environment, including those involving some management of the unexpected.

At the C1 level, the learner can also identify, understand and take into account information that is relevant to the task, but which is expressed implicitly or allusively. He/she can reformulate them, if necessary, maintaining a high degree of conciseness and precision in his/her expression and adapting his/her speech to the emotional state of his/her interlocutor (for example, by integrating formulations expressing empathy).

Understand and process information:

The candidate may include the essential elements of documentary records on public health topics, a captioned anatomical plate, a medical act/examination/procedure description sheet.

He/she can fill out usual professional documents and write a note on a health risk, a report on a health topic, a letter transmitting results and recommendations.

The candidate can understand the gist of programs on a health topic, questions from concerned patients about a medical procedure/examination/intervention.

Interacting orally:

The candidate is able to present and explain a medical procedure/examination/intervention to a patient and reassure him/her, present a disease and health actions.

Recognised by the French Ministry of Interior

The Diplomas in French for Professions are recognised by the French Ministry of the Interior and can be used to certify your French proficiency when applying for the French citizenship or the French resident work permit (Carte de résident). The Diplomas in French for Professions are valid for life.
