Step 1.

Register directly for an Examen civique session at one of our centers located throughout France (metropolitan France and overseas territories).  
Register as early as possible to ensure timely test completion, as part of your application process.  

When registering, select the correct Examen civique option that corresponds to your application : 

  • Examen civique for a carte de séjour pluriannuelle (multi-year residence permit)
  • Examen civique for a carte de résident (residence permit)
  • Examen civique for naturalisation française (citizenship) 

When registering at the Center or via our Platform, please have your AGDREF number (Foreign Number) ready.

Step 2.

Once your registration has been confirmed, your test center will send you all the additional information by email.  
FYI : If you have not received any information a few days before the test date, remember to check your “Junk Mail” / “Spam” folder in your email account. You can also contact your test center directly.  

Please note : 

Legal regulations provide for several situations in which a candidate may be exempted or benefit from special arrangements: 

  • People with disabilities or chronic health conditions may benefit from special arrangements for the tests or be exempted from providing the required diplomas, certifications, or certificates.
    → Medical proof is required to benefit from these measures, in accordance with the conditions set by a joint decree of the relevant ministers.
  • Foreigners over the age of 65 are not required to pass the Examen civique

How much does the Examen civique cost ?

Registration fees are set by the test center, according to the ministère de l’Intérieur recommendations. Rates may vary from one center to another. 

Are there any exemptions from the Examen civique ?

Yes, the regulations provide for several situations in which a candidate may be exempted or benefit from accommodations : 

  • People with disabilities or chronic health conditions may benefit from accommodations for the tests or be exempted from providing the required diplomas, certifications, or certificates. 
    Medical proof is required to benefit from these measures, in accordance with the conditions set by a joint decree of the relevant ministers. 
  • Foreigners over the age of 65 are not required to pass the Examen civique

Can I cancel my registration ?

Registration is final and binding. The registration fees you have paid are non-refundable. 
 
In the event of cancellation before the test date or absence on the test date for serious reasons (illness, work commitments, death of a parent, etc.), you must provide the center with supporting documentation (medical certificate, employer’s certificate, etc.). 
 
Le Français des Affaires will then review the reasons for your absence and may offer you a new registration at the center at no additional cost. 
 
In the event of an unjustified absence or withdrawal, you will not be reimbursed. You accept these conditions when you register at the center.
